The 24 Hour Hockey Marathon is more than just a game — it’s nonstop action for an extraordinary cause. Players hit the ice for a full day of hockey, joining forces to raise funds and awareness for kids and families impacted by pediatric cancer.

From the first puck drop, it’s a display of endurance, teamwork, and heart. Whether you’re playing or cheering from the stands, you’ll experience the energy of hockey mixed with the joy of giving back.

Born in Connecticut and expanding to arenas across the country, the 24 Hour Hockey Marathon brings together passionate players, fans, and communities — proving that when we play for a purpose, we make a difference, one shift at a time.

Player Info

Divisions

We welcome a wide range of skill levels! Players are grouped into three divisions based on ability. We’ll work with each participant to ensure they’re placed in the group that best fits their experience and comfort level. All divisions receive equal playing time and amenities.
Schedules

Across 24 hours of continuous play, each player rotates through multiple ice times with their group.
Longest shifts: Up to 2.5 hours (typically overnight)
Other sessions: 25–60 minutes throughout the event
The marathon schedule is designed to balance fun, challenge, and camaraderie—so everyone can push their limits while keeping the energy high.
Fundraising

Each player commits to raising $1,500 to support LivFree’s mission—helping families fighting pediatric cancer create Moments of Joy.
Our team provides tools, resources, and support to make fundraising easy and impactful. You’re not just playing hockey—you’re changing lives.
Swag

Every player receives custom event jerseys and exclusive swag designed just for marathon participants. Plus, players can earn additional gear and rewards through fundraising milestones—because every dollar raised helps bring more moments of joy to families fighting pediatric cancer.

Moments of Joy are meaningful experiences—big or small—that provide opportunities for connection, healing, renewed hope and joy. They offer childhood cancer patients, along with their siblings and parents, a break from hospital visits and hard days. Player FAQs

This event is adult hockey and players must be 18 years and up. Men and women are welcome to participate. All skill levels are welcome! From recreational adult league players to former D1 and semi-pro athletes, we place each player in a division that fits their ability.
Players are grouped based on skill and experience in divisions A, B and C. When players register, they are asked questions about their experience and preferred group. We’ll work with you to ensure a fun and competitive fit.
Each player is asked to raise $1,500 to support LivFree’s mission. This amount is symbolic and important for LivFree as it represents one child and family supported.
We provide tools, resources, and guidance to make fundraising easy and rewarding. If a player does not reach their goal, they will be charged the remaining balance at a date determined after their marathon.
Players average 6.5 hours on the ice, they rotate through multiple ice times over 24 hours.
- Longest shifts: up to 2.5 hours (typically overnight)
- Other sessions: 25–60 minutes

All players receive:
- Custom event jerseys and hoodie
- Swag (with extra rewards for fundraising milestones)
- Access to premium arenas, your own locker and shared team facilities, along with personal trainers and other support staff.
- All meals, snacks and drinks provided throughout the event.
- Memories and camaraderie that last a lifetime
At this time we are only looking for players who can commit to a full 24 hour game. Your actual playing time will be approximately 6.5 hours.

Each marathon is kicked off with an Opening Showcase open to the public. Please visit a location specific page for full information. Family, friends, media and sponsors may have additional opportunities to attend the event. Schedules will be venue specific.

Two CT hockey dads talking during jersey fittings about an idea for a 24 hour charity hockey game in 2024.
